The fossil measures 91 mm (3.56 inches) across with matrix, which is very large for this species. The ammonite is very well preserved on both sides with highly detailed suture lines and ribs. The ribs are usually worn away in this species, so finding a large one with the ribs still intact is hard.
The metallic iron pyrite colour and shine is beautiful. These ammonites are becoming much harder to find these days due to lack of erosion of the right layers of rock. This is a very high-quality specimen. it weighs 225 grams.
Around 196 million years old, this fossil would make a wonderful addition to any collection
